About the Role

As a Senior Programme Manager, you will establish strong relationships at senior level, both internal to the organisation and external counterparts, to successfully deliver programmes and projects in a fully collaborative way.

The role will work across various areas including Business change, Technology, System and application delivery.

Successful candidates will be required to effectively manage a team of project managers to oversee the delivery of projects in accordance to the project managers to oversee the delivery of projects in accordance to the project methodologies and programme governance. This could be working with partners or within the organisation.

Requirements

  • Experience of Delivering large scale complex programmes at pace, developing high performing interchanging teams to support delivery at each stage
  • Project and programme management in the UK Financial Services industry
  • Strong people management and leadership experience
  • Extensive implementation change management and benefits realisation experience
  • Evidence of confidently operating at an Executive level
  • Planning and plan management
  • MP training or Certification – Desirable
  • Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) – Desirable
  • Management of Portfolios (MoP) – Desirable
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and business sponsors
  • Evidence of ability to make key strategic decisions
  • Problem solving and critical thinking
  • Resource and team management

Key Accountability

  • Produces a well-defined programme plan, sets the key workstreams/milestones and assigns programme & project managers
  • Ensures most efficient course for delivery by identifying and removing barriers to programme success
  • Implement and manage a robust governance framework, enabling the programme to progress safely at pace, ensuring accountability for delivery, decisions and actions is clearly understood by all, including sponsors and executives
  • Obtains sponsor and stakeholder buy-in for programme plans, commitments and changes
  • Baselines the plan requirements, designs, budget and scope during Programme Definition. Manages changes through the change control process. Challenges and intervenes where there is scope creep, budget overrun and plan slippage
  • Plans and manages the implementation of the change, to ensure business benefits are realised and that the transition from current state to target state is smooth. Ensuring that the organisation and other change audiences are ready, willing and able to function in the new business environment
  • Works closely with delivery partners (interrnal and external) to shape the programme, ensuring there are clear goals, benefits, scope, governance and delivery structure with planning, design and estimating, bringing together delivery and business partner teams; actively managing dependencies between these teams and other projects and programmes
  • Demonstrates financial acumen to develop and manage a detailed business case, including investments, detailed benefits and link to overall finances of the business
  • Provides timely reports on programme status, risks and issues, evaluating programme performance based on management information
  • Ensures programme and project teams follow Change and programme frameworks and methodologies
  • Maintains a strong focus on people development and ensure programme resources receive any necessary training, support & challenge
  • Provides regular constructive feedback and coaching to individuals to support their development and career progression
